Although the reasons for wanting a ban, are more because of the damage the birds cause, but it will be good for the birds too. There are 3 councilors who have requested this ban, one of them would also like to terminate the contract "Grants Picknic Grounds "have until 2019, that allows them to feed Cockatoos for the entertainment of tourists, and the money.
I hope they will succeed, for the benefit of our native birds. Yarra Ranges Council is also a Council that has a "night curfew" on cats, the law say: cats have to stay indoors after dusk.
Oh wise & wonderful Yarra Ranges Council, even if its motivation is human- rather than bird-centric. It's also nice to see that Council is aware of the risks roaming cats pose.
