Hi, please help with identification of a very interesting bird. I heard it in November, in a wild mountain rainforest near Gold Coast. The sound is a very short and distinctive one and repeats in every 30-60 seconds. The sound itself consists of two parts. The first one is quite quiet, lasts less than 1 second, it looks like the bird intakes air inside its body. Straight after that, you can hear the second, main part of the sound - it is a very loud sharp distinctive 'laser shot', like the bird discharge all the air in a moment. I heard the sound several times while I was in the rainforest, so I think it is a quite common bird. It would be very interesting to know its name. Thank you for help.
Might this be an Eastern Whip Bird?
Yes you right, it is eastern whip bird! I checked the sound on the wikipedia
article. Thank you so much.
