Thanks for that. I am seeing a few of these around a wetland in the Riveland and they seem to vary a bit in colouring leaving me a tad confused at times.(plus I am just lousy at bird ids)

Don't get disheartened, raptors can be extremely difficult to ID. Some of them have nice diagnostic features, but others are awful. crying There's a limit to how well you can ID a distant dark blob with wings.
