Had a great two days at Edithburgh on Yorke Peninsula over last weekend. Mixture of land and sea birds with plenty of variety.
These Red Wattle Birds spent most of there time squabbling and flying from tree to tree in quite a small area, as well as feeding on flowering gums.
Most of the usual places I go they are very hard to get a clear shot of, so I was very happy to have them a little more approachable.
Hi there Rick,
The "Barker" is a beautiful bird! We have plenty of them around here. These are really great photos! Congrats!

Gorgeous photos Rick!
I particularly like the 2nd and last ones. :)
Thanks all,
Yes, they were having quite a feast on the flowers.
If you look carefully at the last shot you can see the tongue, but it isn't clear.
They certainly were "barking"
Absolutely gorgeous Rick! Great when some usually awkward to photograph species play nicely for a change isn't it! Love that you got so many angles of these guys, showing off their wattles & front colouration beautifully, as well as the rest of them of course. All equal favs, but had to chuckle at the comical pose you caught one in shot #3. Good stuff.
