That's a big crop, but your level of detail is really amazing M-L. Well done! In my thoughts, if you know you cannot get too close, you should try and place the bird near the center of the lens as that seems to be a better spot for optical performance, even when the lenses are kit lenses. Edges are iffy territory for sharpness. Great thinking M-L.
Thanks Akos, that's exactly what I try to do , most of the time anyay. The tiny bird was quite high up in the tree and behind a lot of foliage, I also had to slowly sneak around to the other side of the tree to have the sun behind me, and then find the center and the gap in the foliage.

I like it M-L. From the angle you've caught it, this reminds me a bit of a thornbill, the way they look so small and round
