Red-tailed Black Cockatoo in flight (captive)

Almost a month ago we went to Taronga Zoo to meet with a vet friend who showed us behind the scenes, which was awesome. To see breeding reptiles, the hospital and learn of a particularly COOL secret (though nothing to do with birds) was incredible.

The flight show was pretty good. I was able to photograph the black cockatoos as they swirled around the amphitheater, which was cool. Not easy still in case you wonder!

Enjoy....

Great photo Akos, those Red-tailed Black Cockatoos are so beautiful and so intelligent. I have only seen one at Healesville Sanctuary, they fly them in their amphitheater. When they fly, they look so elegant, I love your photo.

Now I want to know, what the COOL secret was????

I don't think I've ever seen one of these, wild certainly not, nor captive.  Well done capturing this angle showing the face and the red feathers in the tail.

Great shot. I really like the angle you have caught - different to the usual flight photo
