Closest impression for me is a wren maybe in eclipse plumage, but I can't rule out one of the dull robins (i'm not familiar with any of them) or whistler (but seems too compact)
That said, I am quite puzzled by this one. No specific bird group especially comes to mind from looking at it

There were male eclipse and female wrens where I was shooting today, but this one was was the odd one out. Also agree that it was a bit small for a whistler
I was guessing a Robin if some kind but I just don't know.
