Two birds from different locations.
I am pretty sure that both birds are Rufous Fieldwrens with the first from Coral Bay, WA and the second from Goolwa,SA. The environment was quite different with the first dry heath on sand dunes and the second in reeds at the settlement ponds. The song was right for the first but the second was quiet... too busy collecting mosquitoes for the young?
It seems as I sort through pictures that I start to doubt myself. Would be happy to have some feedback please.

Both look good to me Sue.
Seven ssp according to P&K so some variation in colouring to be expected.
Cheers Rick
Thanks Rick. Not sure why I started doubting the second one but was mislead by some mention of a paler eye. 7 sub-species explains a lot.

A Striated Fieldwren is more likely to be found at Goolwa than a Rufous Fieldwren. Even then the Striate Fieldwren would be at the western limit of its range.
