Just had a bo-peep. Looks OK. You can always edit the post and go up to the next size if it's a big crop which will result in a smaller picture. I love my pixels the more the better, but the birds don't always co-operate.
Interesting question from Woko. The buff breast and spot above the bieak suggested Sacred but the overall colouring is more blue like a Forest. This was in the Gundagai town area which is fairly south for the Forest. There were a pair hunting a small creek bed. The other KF looks distinctly more green as seen in second picture below. The first picture below is of the first bird.
Second bird of the pair (below) kept its distance
So I'm off to enjoy a good coffee now and will be interested in Woko's comments when I get back. Really enjoying this week's interactions
Very nice shots, that first one is very good. They're both Sacred Kingfishers. There is variation in shades of blue/green between individual birds and depending on the light. With Forest Kingfisher the spot in front of the eye would be white, not buff, even in juvenile birds.
Thanks so much for the info as that seems to clarify it.
Also trying out new lens and camera arrangement. Taken on Nikon D7200 with 300mm F4 phase-fresnel which is replacement lens after 2 older ones (Nikon F4 300m prime and a Sigma 500mm zoom) stolen. The combination is much lighter for me.
Yes they are great shots. I agree with Sacred Kingfisher.

That is not entirely true Snail.
Below is a photo of a Juvi Forest Kingfisher with the buff spot.
Well there you go, I stand corrected. Probably a better distinguisher, rather than the colour of the spots, is that they are more well defined, more forward towards the beak and less directly above the front of the eye on the Juv. Forest Kingfisher. Thanks for sharing.

Yes I totally agree Snail. I have to say the only reason I knew this is because I got tricked up with it as well.
Beautiful colouring in this one.
Sue,
This was only 640 × 396.
What size are you choosing to load from Flickr? I always choose large which is one down from the biggest.

Just starting to get the hang of it. Last posting in the challenge at #248 seems to be right at last. Thanks for the feedback

Isn't this a juvenile Forest Kingfisher?

A bit more playing seems to be paying off. Just downloaded these again by selecting all available sizes and selecting medium.
Anyway settled on Sacred KF. many thanks
Great shots of a beautiful bird, Sue. Ours have all but left for the Winter :(

This shot was taken at work where a family of these little guys live.
