Travelling from Mt Gambier to Adelaide via the coast road there is a loop road just South of Salt Creek with a nice variety of birds. The dirt road leaves the highway about ten klm South of SC and touches the edge of the Coorong before exiting at SC. Well worth a look for anyone in the area.
Great photos.
Very nice pink eared duck.
Love the pair of ducks in flight.
good pics as usual Rick, pic #2 reminds me of the 3 ceramic ducks that my grandma had on her wall

How many times I travelled that road in my younger days and missed out on all of this...all pre-birding days (mutter mutter)....I remember the sometimes somewhat fragrant aroma going past the Coorong though, although I daresay these days it wouldn't bother me a bit. Thanks for mentioning where it is Rick, next time I visit family in the Mount, must try to go for a day trip there. All beautiful shots, love love the Pink-eared Duck and Avocets/Stilts in particular. The angle of the shot of the Teals makes them look as though one is piggy-backing the other almost, fantastic!

Thanks all.
I travel to the Mount often and always try to find time for the detour.
Rick, I seem to remember seeing Beautiful Firetails at Salt Creek. Any sign of them on your forays there?
Woko, not that I have seen but have only just started looking inland. Have been mainly observing the lake edges etc
but have plans for a long walk there soon. Will certainly keep an eye out, any specific area?
On the other side of the highway from the roadhouse (if it's still there) as I recall, Rick. They were in Melaleuca halmaturorum growing on the side of the creek.
Thanks Woko, know the area. Will definately have a look next time I'm down there.
