I have found a place near Kurrajong (by accident actually) where this species can be enticed to perches by placing cut fruit. It worked a treat the only time I have managed to get out there in summer 2010/11. You ought to look for a camping area, or similar, where they are used to people and bingo!
Cool shots. I agree with Akos about camping areas, I once went to one where the bowerbirds were sitting on my tent! I didn't happen to have the camera though.
they're not easy birds to get so close to; love the female - have seen it from such a distance only; great snaps
