Following on from Devster's query, is this then a Satin Flycatcher because of the colour and the breastband which is not up-turned? It really shone blue-black. Spotted on Sunday at Lane Cove during the big count so want to get it right. Highly cropped picture unfortunately.

Yes, quite certain. Even from this angle, breastband curve is quite obvious. Also note how dark the sheen is even in this good light. Great job.

Thanks Ryu. It really looked different to the Leadens as the colour stood out. Quite pleased as I also saw 15 Topknot Pigeons and a juvenile Spectacled Monarch in this reserve which is close to home. I had not been there since I was a child and had forgotten about it.
Sue
Sounds like you had a great time.
With Satin and Leaden Flycatchers, at least with the males, once you see both, you know. You know when you really see a Satin Flycatcher, but until then, you are never sure if your Leaden Flycatcher is a Leaden or Satin.
The same with Ravens. When I heard real Little Ravens, there was no doubt about it. Until then, you never knew if your Aus Ravens were Australian or Little.
I still refuse to ID female Leaden and Satin Flycatchers unless they are with a male

That is a lovely little bird.
Whereabouts in Lane Cove was that area Sue, if you don't mind me asking? I know that area a bit.

Lane Cove Bushland Reserve off River Road. I walked in from Gore Creek reserve and through the storm drain to the far side. It is beautiful there with plenty of walking tracks and a running creek. There are entrances also from Osborne Road and other streets but I was parked at Gore Creek.
