Scarlet Honeyeater.

The very first photograph I took of a Scarlet Honeyeater was pretty ordinary looking back but at the time I was really pleased with it.smiley

To-day I had a golden opportunity and even though the photographs are much better than my previous attempt, they were just ever so slightly out of focus on the bird itself..AnnieJ would have nailed it!

In my defence at the same time as the Scarlet Honeyeater landed in the bush I was up close and personal with a Striated Parladote! That has to be worthy something!!!!!!!!

Good combination of all the colours.......

Excellent work Reflex - nice series of shots, #3 is a beauty.

Such beautiful little birds .... very quick moving around feeding so its a big challenge to nail them 100%.

I may have discovered a reason for the lack of the accurate focusing.

All these were shot with a Canon EF300mm f/4L USM +2.0x.

According to Ken Rockwell, "In order to use a 2x teleconverter you need to start off with a lens of at least f/2.8, and with a 1.4x teleconverter you need a lens of at least f/4".

Hence the mixed results with the 2.0x and back to the 1.4x it is.
