Visited Eagleby Wetlands today to practice with the Nikon. These were the best shots. More practice needed. Thrill to see this male Scarlett Honeyeater so close.

Great stuff alcatraz, got my first shot of one only last weekend. I had my back to it and when I turned around there he was in all his splendour, only got a couple of shots off before he flew.
Good work - the males are spectacular. (Another species where my best photos are of the much less colourful female)
What a lovely bird! I have never seen these. Thanks for sharing your photos and adding to my education!
Happy Birding!

Thanks Brian. Same story here. Just going back to my car when this little bloke appeared. Cheers.
Thanks Whistling Duck. I agree, a spectacular bird.
Thanks Wollemi.
Great shots Alcatraz, thanks for sharing
Dont take life too seriously, it never ends well
The males are a striking bird and although they are usually up high in the canopy, they can turn up at eye level when you least expect them.
Samford Valley Qld.
Yeah always good to see these guys. I have been hearing them everywhere but cannot detect them yet. I remember last spetember they were heaps of them in a tree fairly low, so as Reflex said they do come down sometimes.
