Hi, still very new to site, photo of a ? Shy Albatross, taken while fishing at Adventure Bay, Bruny Island Tasmania, last year.
This one came right up to the boat, when we started throwing back undersized flathead. Had 9 in all, and stayed with us for about 90 minutes. Missed out on adding it tho the Birds of the week last week (joined too late)

Nice photo Dale, I have never seen Albatross here, the last time I saw some was in the South of France, where many come and circle over the beaches. I used to love them.

Nice photo, Dale. I doubt that most of us would be familiar with albatross/albatrosses/albatrossi so your posting is particularly welcome. It is for me, anyway.
I took a gander, so to speak, at Morcombe's field guide & agree that this is a shy albatross due to the bill colour & the heavy, frowning beetle brow but I'd be interested to hear of other ideas.
Good shot mate, I have never seen one in the wild.
Like most, I'm no expert, but I agree Shy Albatross. They're the most likely species to be seen inshore around southern Tas from what I've seen. Nice photo, thanks for posting.
Cheers,
Scott.
Nice one Dale , would love to see one of these.
