Snow bunting?

Just saw this bird in our crabapple tree.  Thought it might be a snow bunting but it's bill is light colored not black. Any ideas?

Um... where did you take this?  I have never heard of a snow bunting!  What size is it?

hi there  my US birdo, lucky i still have my field guide of north America and to me it looks like a snow bunting. In winter  the beak changes from black to orange -yellow in  colour. Unless your in Alaska it could be a McKay's bunting.  America has a lots of bunting and over thirty different  sparrows. What part of the US are you from.

Hi Ktsbedg,

Here's a photo I took of a Snow Bunting in the UK last year - a very small bird that was so approachable it was scary. You could have just about picked it up.

Stay warm,

Graham

I like the first bird, it almost looks as if it were a pied aviary mutation.
