Hi joanneh,
lucky you....
here is a photo for you I took of Steve, while we were photographing the lunettes at mungo nat. park, 3 weeks ago.
Cheers,
al
good to see you too birdie :)
....they are walls of sand that have been eroded over time into unusually shaped pinnicles. At sunset the distinctly coloured layers of sand are very photogenic.
Thanks Al, will have to Google that :)
Gosh we are all looking older and Steve Parish is no exception I still think of him as the younger guy he was when I first started getting his stuff so many years ago!!! I bought my daughter up on all his nature activity books etc
i would asume he has more than one i know when i seen him on tv he was carrying two , what do you use windhover you take lots of prey pictures so you must have a half decent camera and lens
Hi Joanne
Most "serious" nature photography nuts would carry two or three outfits, so I am not at all surprised with Steve's second. I only have a Canon 30D and a 300mm f/4L IS lens that I use with 1.4x and 2x converters. Sometimes I get access to a Nikon D3 with a 600mm lens that is a mighty weapon too, but I don't get to use it too often. :(
Eventually I will get my own 600mm lens and second body so I can have a shorter outfit for birds in flight or closer action, or larger animals, then the 600mm for slightly more distant subjects or smaller birds. :)
well windhover you do ok with your kit as i said before you can have the best gear but it makes no difference if you dont have the right focus or settings. me i have a nikon d300 and have just got a new 150-500 lens notice the sharpness is so much better than my older lens, which in birding makes such a difference also a 2x converter which i have not as yet used on this lens,,,, due to such bad weather and all the birds have left early this year. seen ed in the common on saturday and he said the birds had gone very quiet
you are so lucky! Well done and ENJOY!!!

looks like Steve's got a very nice medium format digital camera there. :) Great for landscapes, not so for wildlife I guess.
