Another interesting venture out to sea on MV Grinner.
Usual kick-off from Southport at 06;30 and I thought it was going to be a beautiful day but a Northerly wind at over 20 knots changed all that. A few passengers ended up crook and it was a slow trip out to the continental shelf.
A Pied Cormorant flew alongside the boat on our way out to the Seaway.
An Australasian Gannet was a good start on our way out.
The birds soon started arriving with 12 species for the day. Nothing new but some good photograph opportunities.
Kermadec Petrel.
White-bellied Storm-Petrels are tricky to photograph. We had three species of Storm-Petrel over the course of the day.
Plenty of Wedge-tailed Shearwaters.
A Masked Booby joined us at the shelf but didn't stay long. Looked like a juvenile bird ;ashy brown above and on neck.
Not a bird usually found on the list of species for a Pelagic trip but too good an opportunity to knock back. A House Sparrow.
Couldn't resist this gorgeous beast coming into the Gold coast sea-way. Beyond 64.
As always great shots, love the photos of birds on the water
Dont take life too seriously, it never ends well
Beaut shots Reflex...
Ron.
Great shots as always Reflex. The Masked Booby would be a new one for me. Love the shots of the Kermedac Petrel and the Gannet.
Beautiful shots. Is it just me or are you alway out on pelagics?

Thants not true, he is always out on a Pelagic. He has an Iron stomache. :P
Lots of great photos as always Reflex - very nice ones of the gannet and the booby, and the little sparrow too.
When were you last on dry land?
LOL!
