There have been sporadic appearances of Spiny-cheeked Honeyeaters at my place on the s.e. slopes of the Mt Lofty Ranges, SA. Two years ago a pair appeared for several months in spring before departing but leaving behind a young one, apparently to fend for itself. Last year there were no observations of Spiny-cheeked Honeyeaters but this morning I managed this photo of one in a Weeping Myall Acacia pendula, a species planted by the previous owners. This tree's natural range is through central NSW into Queensland. I suspect the Spiny-cheeked Honeyeaters are using a developing corridor of native vegetation linking mallee country to the south with my place.
Good observations and photo Woko.
