I found a new nest in my garden yesterday. This gorgeous guy was sitting in the entrance. Not sure if he was just checking it out, or if they have eggs in there? Let's wait and see.
Here are some of about 80 photos I took of one of them, enjoy.

These are spectacular photos, my favourites of all the ones you've taken. What a gorgeous little bird
Does anyone know if the pattern on their head looks similar in all the Pardalote's , or is it something I could distinguish individual birds by? In some ways like finger prints?

M-L, your garden is paradise. Lovely sharp shots of what I regard as the jewels of the bush. Sorry, but I can't help you with your question about their spots.

Thanks everyone. The question still remains unanswered, " the pattern on top of the head, is that individually different like a finger print?" So would this be the bird's ID to distinguish it from all others?"![](http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8043/8085317682_841b0a3f21_c.jpg)

Amazing work M-L! Every head of a pardalote has to be minutely different from each other and I'm sure the birds have ways of recognizing subtle plumage differences, not just in pardalotes, but in other species too.
Cheers, Owen.
Thanks Owen, I guess the only way to find out about the pattern on their heads, would be if more people would post photos of them.

Great Shots M-L. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I looked at one I took recently - it has yellow spots and there is a difference in the patterns of the spots.
Should we call for all the pardalotes to pose for us next weekend for a spot-count !!!
I think the patterns will look different in different angles of the photos - still a great idea to have a collection in this thread to to see if we can come to a conclusion.
Once again, a great thought.
Thanks Nahar, that makes your Pardalote a female then, they have yellow spots. (so my book tells me
)
