This little star finch was taken at Wyndham WA just on dawn.

Wow so bright and colourful. I would love to see one of these birds one day.
The best place to see them is in the NT or Parry's Creek Farm near Wyndam in WA
I note that a subspecies of the Star Finch (ruficauda) in Queensland is probably extinct now.
He's beautiful.
Another great spot is Milstream NP. You get the Yellow Faced Star Finch there also

We saw about 10 crimson finches but the light wasn't the best in the dense scrub. Lots of Spinifex pigeons too.
Crimsons are my favorite, I spent 5 years working at Argyle Diamonds and was always distracted by the many Finch species.
