This Spangled Drongo had this Bug in its mouth for a second or two and for some reason tossed it up and caught it again, maybe it was a bit too spicey for it.
"Tossed salad", even I didn't see that one coming, but it made me laugh all the same and I guess it makes a lot of sense to turn the bug the right way round like some birds do with fish.
One of my favourite birds, and I haven't been able to get a decent pic of one yet. I've watched them work in pairs, one to distract other birds while the other darts in and grabs the goodies. Amazing, agile, acrobatic - I just love these birds. Good shot.
Great capture Clif2. I think they toss the food around to soften it up and maybe to align the bugs so that the wings fold back going down the throat.
Good action shot there mate....well done.
Maybe the bug goes with the tossed salad.
