Got these a few weeks back in the Blue Mountains. The Striated Thornbills are one of those bird species that seems to stay a little out of reach for me but not this particular day.
Beautiful photos vas, you really bring out all the colours and patterns ... i didnt realise what a very pretty little bird they are with a real mixture of browns tans rusts yellows and golds in those feathers. The first photo really highlights the striated forehead.

Thanks WD :-) I like all the thornbills, they have intersting colours when u look at them properly and they are all tiny little things. I notice the calls sometimes immitate other birds too. The 1st photo was put up for that exact reason, it really shows its lines well.
Thanks for the comments :-) I think i got to about 3 metres in the 1st photo, didn't need too much cropping. The rest were from about 3.5 metres to about 4.5 metres.
Nice shots, I really like the second one with its head turned to look at you.
Yes they are often challenging to photograph, well done!

Some cracking shots here Vas. Judging by the amount of detail you have captured, it suggests you managed to get quite close as well.

They are crackers as always Vas. Like Reflex said, looks like you managed to get quite close.
Thanks WD :-)
