They are out of the nest

As feared, I missed the babies coming out of the nest. It is cold , windy and it rains. Obviously doesn’t matter to them? They want to go, they go.

I heard them begging for food and followed the 4 parents. I couldn’t get a clear shot , they were sitting high in a shrub with lots of twigs obstructing them. Those photos are the best I could do. Now it’s raining even more. Will try to find them when (if?) the rain eases or tomorrow.

Anyway, the first Baby photos:

Aww, they're gorgeous! My ones are just learning to catch their own food at the moment (with some help from mum & dad), but they aren't keen on sitting still for very long.

On the other hand, while I was out watching them yesterday, the little ones were fearlessly hopping around my feet chasing bugs. laugh

I found that it takes them a few days to understand and develop some kind of "fear reaction" for the first few days they have "no fear" yet. They have to learn that the world can be a dangerous place, that's why the parents try to hide them in thick vegetation.

How old are yours windshear?

I'm not really sure. Only just noticed the little ones about in the last few days or so. They seem reasonably capable feeding and flightwise though.

So darling!  I love the cranky little guy on the end.
