Earlier this year I put up some photos of a large flock of Budgerigars. One of the comments to that post was a request to put up any more if I ever saw anything similar. This week was similar to a point, the flock I had seen before was possibly 500, the flock I saw this week was probably closer to 10,000! The possibility of getting all of them in one shot, well, just isn't possible. The areas in Central Australia are drying out and the birds are flocking to the remaining waterholes in huge numbers. I'll put up a separate post of the Cockatiels.
Anyway, enough words. These aren't similar to the many wonderful close-ups of other contributors to this forum. Instead I've tried to give you an idea of the mayhem that this many budgies all together cause. I took some videos as well, you can see these on my blog at :

Hope you enjoy.

This is AMAZING. Not many people will ever get to see this. Those photos are stunning. To think people in Europe keep one or two in a small cage, they would go nuts if they would see this. Wonderful Richard, I love it.

Hi M-L, we all live in interesting places and have interesting lives, don't worry, I marvel at how lucky you are living in the Dandenongs, but isn't it fantastic we have on-line forums like this where we can share our lives with other people with similar interests. Cheers, Richard
I've succumbed to the birding bug!

Fantastic Richard! Just love it!
We were hoping to see some of these on our field trip in SW Qld earlier in the year, but perhaps weren't far enough into the arid zone.
How lucky you are!

Massive, Richard. It shows what a marvellous place the Australian outback is, especially if it's left largely to its own devices.
