Top End Birds

So this time I made a point to bring my camera while walking the pup. This time my partner came so they could wander off while I was happy snapping.

Here are some of a Forrest Kingfisher along the Esplanade in Darwin. And then some more.

Great collection, especially love the Finches. We are still waiting for the six numbers to come out so we can come up your way for a visit. The bird life looks great.

When I manage to get to the Top End grohlster, the species I love finding the most are the finches, there is such an abundance of varieties within a small area. Wonder how you manage to keep the camera(s) dry during the wet? if it is a problem that is.

I've succumbed to the birding bug!

Oh, these are wonderful pictures, thank you for sharing.  Such diversity in your area, it must be wonderful, wondering what you will see each time you go out.

That's the beauty of travelling our great country, and also being a beginner birder. I'm discovering new birds all the time! :D
I've found where some Chestnut-Breasted Mannikins live, which is a new bird for me! I'll put those pics up soon too.

Great shots, grohlster!

I saw Chestnut-breasted Mannikins on the Esplanade es well, in the shrubs along the cliffs near the Cenotaph. Is that where you spotted them?

Ooh thanks for the hints Anja! I'll have to check that spot out. Those Kingfishers were on the Esplanade, I know the trees they're always in. The other pictures are from Doctors Gully, near the rock climbing place. There were countless birds around, it's a great place to spot.

I've found some Chestnut-Breasted Mannikins closer to home. In an industrial type area on the edge of Darwin.

Here's a photo of the cheeky pair.
