Welcome back Phil!! I was only thinking the other day it was way past time since we saw some more of your gorgeous birds , glad to see you got the telepathic message . And what a stunning one this is, both the shot and bird. I had to look up Towhee to sticky beak a bit more and see there are a few different species. Do you happen to know which one this gorgeous guy is, a Spotted Towhee, or a different species? Such a beautiful beautiful birdy, thanks for sharing!
Thank you, windshear, AnnieJ, and Elsie! It has been a long time since I had something new to add. The backyard in CA has been rather boring for months, but now that we have made the annual trek to CO, there are the summer sights here to enjoy.
You are right on, AnnieJ! It is a Spotted Towhee. We see them here every summer, but they are fast and I have the dickens of a time catching one! LOL! This fella was enjoying the birdbath, which my wife just put out yesterday. He didn't waste much time getting right in there...
I hope to have some other images to share through the summer. Thanks again for the homecoming ribbons!
Hi Phil, nice shot...
Cute little guy.
(I was going to ask what it was, then I realised Towhee was the bird, not the place)

Welcome back Phil - I too was wondering recently what had happened to our North American correspondent!
Lovely looking little bird you have posted for us!
