Treecreeper?

Hi All,

Sorry the quality of the photo isn't great but can anyone ID this bird for me?. It moved into my parents backyard at Blaxland in the lower Blue Mountains NSW around Oct - Nov. It is always on it's own & hanging out with the Parrots & Lorikeets that come in for seed. It runs around on the ground a lot like a little road runner lol. It's tail stands upright often & it makes a small chirp noise whilst it's eating. Being a total novice I tried to ID with a bird book but only came up with maybe a Brown treecreeper but really it's just a guess.

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks Donna

Most likely Female Blackbird.

An introduced species, Donna, which takes up the ecological niche of native ground-dwelling birds such as the Bassian Thrush. It can be discouraged by pulling down their nests in spring but it takes persistence to get results. I've reduced numbers at my place from about six to two in twenty five years.

Just to show you what a White-throated Treecreeper looks like. You would most likely find them on the trunk of a tree. At my place they also come down to have a drink and a bath.

That's one of the many beauties of bird watching, Donna. There's something to learn every day.
