One of many Welcome Swallows sitting on a roof came down and sat on the water tank.
The Swallows do this every year, just before they leave the area, they fly around the house and look at the nest they used this season. They bring the now grown up young birds. I think, they are showing them exactly where to go next season. I think they are creating a mental map in their memory, so even the next generation will find their birth place again.
Awww, what a sweetie!
And how very interesting about their training of the young.
What a Stunning photo! So beautiful. I think that must be what our Welcom Swallows are doing, I was wondering why they were coming back and looking at the nest when it isn't nesting time.
Great shot M-L
Thanks windshear and Elsie. I have observed that for a few years now, sometimes they even sleep in the old nest for a night or so, or they might sit very close to the old nest. They also fly around the area for some time. They did this on the weekend, but now they have left. Haven't seen any all day. I'm glad you have noticed the same Elsie, it confirms my thinking
