Some Welcome Swallows i captured upon testing my m.zuiko 300 f4 IS pro when i first recieved it in late march. Totally forgot to put these in the forums here.
I should post more often but the newborn is keeping my internet time at night to a minimal so i am backlogged pretty hard with photo's, i can take winter off photography if i want lol. During the day Oliver sleeps and at night he is awake too often and his older brother started Kindergarten so i get out for short sessions during the day when possible.

Impressive shots, I don't know how you manage to get so sharp flight shots of swallows, they are so fast!
Fantastic photos again vas - fantastic to catch them in flight they way you can. You even get the eye in sharpest focus in these flight shots!
I saw them flying up close in brillant sunshine a few weeks ago at a bird hide at Hunter wetlands that they were returning too as they seem to be roosting on/in it, when i walked in the hide I had a whole rush of them leaving it - they were way too fast and actually coming too close to photograph so I just enjoyed their amazing colours and aerial skills.

I'm going to get back into them. Just been doing birds i havn't shot in flight lately. I'm always looking to get a better shot than the last one too ;-)

Very fast, small but also super fast at manouvers. I have alot of confidence in aiming things so i'm able to aim my lens directly on target most the time. I even do butterflies and other insects mid flight, check out my flickr albums like "insects in flight" etc. I'm stoked i'm able to capture such things too because almost a year ago i never attempted flight shots and never would have thought id'e be capable of doing this so often. Infact i would have laughed if anyone told me it can be done regulary.

I have had on a few occassions Swallows fly at cracking speed just mm above me and blowing my hair backwards and this is just from the odd same birds which are not happy with your presence even if your 30m from their nest which i don't go near or have interest in photgraphing as its built on unatural structure and under shade. it's like watching a bullet coming towards your forehead and that agressive high pitched call as it does this then the shockwave. Impossible not to blink as it's like a golf ball coming straight for your forehead or eyes. This is very rare but like humans there is always a crazy bird. I should really try videoing this when it happens as it will be a few attacking raids.

Great shots, Vas. They are incredibly fast flyers.
The Germans in WWII called the jet fighter the 'Schwalbe', German for Swallow, and it's wings were swept back at the same sort of angle.
