I would greatly appreciate some help identifying this little chap / lass. Was spotted on Monday at Mordialloc Creek swimming with some Pacific Blacks. I have been through my field guide so many times and have scoured the net but cannot find anything like this one.

Looks very much like a feral duck to me, Monti, unfortunately encouraged by some councils in their parks & on their lakes.
Yes, I would agree - some type of domestic/feral duck.

I'm happy to have an answer but I'm not so sure I'm happy about the idea of councils encouraging this sort of practice. I'm no expert on these matters though but it doesn't ring well with me.
That being said, thanks again to you both. I'm a total newcomer to this birding lark (pun intended...... Sorry). I've been doing pretty well with my field guide but this one was doing my head in. I can let him go now.
