I note the report that bushfires near Esperance, WA, have devastated Western Ground Parrot habitat putting the species even closer to the cusp of extinction. This is yet another example of the critical importance of having sufficient habitat to enable wildlife to escape the ravages of climate change. Predictions of massive species extinction due to climate change seem to be moving closer to fulfillment.
