A Grey Shrike-thrush, Rob. Probably male (browner on mantle).
Thanks Owl. He didn't hang around for another picture. Very jumpy. I've only seed them a couple of times in this area. Hopefully a better opportunity comes up for a cleaner image.

Their voice is very recognisable, I recommend finding a sound recording to listen to. It varies quite a bit but it's very lovely.
I have a couple of birds with recordings on my phone but it's only a limited number. Field guide is the name of the app. I will take your advice and have a look online.
