Immature Australian Pratincole maybe? But I'm just running from Pizzey and Knight, I've never seen one in real life. The head looks about right though. A full picture would be nice too.
That photo from the internet is of a breeding, adult Australian Pratincole. The immature birds have browner, more subdued colours. Have a look at the 7th picture down here (labeled 'imm'):
Any chance of seeing the whole bird? Sometimes wings, tail and feet can be of help too.

The guy who runs that website seems to be really careful and accurate with IDs, so it's a good place to go for comparison photos.
