If my identification is right, this is a female or juvenile Satin Bower Bird. I've seen quite a few of these around but no dark blue/black ones that I believe are the adult males. My question is where are they all? Location: Tenterfield, NSW. Please and thank you x
It's a female (dark bill).
* "Mainly Green Birds... Juvenile Males, like Females, third and fourth year acquire green throat... bill progressively paler, adult plumage in sixth/seventh year."
"Autumn dispersal to lowlands..."
* (Pizzey & Knight; Ninth edition)
Am unable to give any local/personal experience, but hope this helps.
