Thanks Tim and WhistlingDuck, yes, from the first little play with the Tamron I am very happy with it, looking forward to really getting to know the lens and posting some nice shots up hopefully : ) For those interested the photo data is; Nikon D7100, Tamron 150-600mm @ 360mm, ISO 500, f8, 1/1000 sec
I pre ordered and left a deposit in mid June on the Tamron at Paxtons and it arrived August 12, they had 14 people order it but the shipment only contained 3 Nikon mount lenses so if I hadnt left a deposit I wouldn't have got it. Tamron can not keep up with demand so the lens is very hard to get at the moment worldwide. If you want one in the next couple of months I would suggest ordering it now and leaving a deposit. There was, however, some Canon mount Tamron 150-600mm on the shelf when I picked my lens up. Very happy with it first go and will be bringing some better images as I learn the lens, I will be using it to document this Whistling kite nesting site through breeding season so stay tuned for more shots : )
Great shot. It arrived! From that photo it looks like a good lens.
Great start!
You will be pleased with that one.

Top shot for your first outing. Nice catchlight and some good detail. What was the distance to the kite?
I'm sweating on selling my D600 so I can get one of these. Was yours pre-ordered?
Cheers
