White breasted wood swallow

While I was in the swamp area and the cane fields last week I saw dozens of these flying out from the high tree tops in the late afternnon , gliding and swooping on insects up high.  They were very high up so I was delighted when sitting next to the river to find a few repeating the behaviour but from a lower tree. Quite a nice call too and fun to watch

They were just next to Maroochy river ...Sunshine Coast

That second shot with the bug very clear , they have just shown up down here to , and like you said gliding around with a happy a call.

See it!  Hear it!

I love the fluffiness of these guys. I didn't realise we got them around here - I thought they were more of an inland bird.

Though having read the biby page I was clearly a bit wrong :)
