Took these a few minutes ago, one was ripping a hole into a tree, while the other was watching and complaining, but didn't get any response. (because they were at least 20m high up a dark tree, I thought I should change some settings. Should not have done it, took about 150 bad shots. Serves me
right)
No1 is the one watching, from this angle almost looks like a BOP.

Maybe they are building a nest.
Sorry, they are not building a nest. They are digging and shredding the wood for as long as it takes them to get those jucy grubs out.I have watched them do it many times, they make quite a lot of noise doing it. The bird in this phot found a rather large one.

It would take a month of Sundays for a yellow-tailed black cockatoo to build a suitable nest using this method. They prefer deep holes in old Eucalypts, another reason not to clear dead Euclaypts from the landscape.
I shouldn't post this crappy photo, I only do it to show Alan what the Cockatoo was after. Have a look what he has in his beak.

Have you eaten Witchetty Grubs ? We once collected a bucket full when we had to cut a tree down. Never got to eat them. While I was thinking how to eat them, cooked or raw, a family of Kookaburras had finished them off.
