Thanks for asking about my plants Shirley. I have planted 10 new , very small Grevilleas in pots yesterday. That way I can bring them closer to the house, or shift them around a bit. One of them only has "one flower", but within a few hours birds had discovered it. An Eastern Spinebill and a Crescent Honeyeater faught over the one flower. I chose those, because they stay smaller than 1.5 m in hight, I can prune them, and they will have lots of flowers.
I have all kinds of native shrubs, but also what just grows around here in the bush. (I know you think you haven't got much around your place, that's sad)
But I also have lots of native grasses, prickly moses, dusty miller and whatever selfseeds from the other side of my fence. (it's dark right now, but I will go out tomorrow and take some photos of my garden for you)
The photos were taken this morning, a few hours after the Grevilles were planted, can't wait for more flowers
But I also have quite a few Grevilleas and Calistemons. I know, you would love to have a garden like that, but you can't because you are renting. But you could still plant some in pots , like I did too.
Aint' that the problem, Nathan? A quick flick of the bulldozer & it's all gone but it takes decades to restore just a small proportion of it.
That's exactly the problem Woko, and it's even worse with trees,I should be grateful I have a few huge trees in my garden. I guess that's a plus side when you have an old property like I do.
I think it is important to have such birds in our garden as they act as the Building And Pest Inspection as they tend to eat the insects that damage our plants in the garden.
That's a great photo Araminta.
Thanks for the lovely compliment Night Parrot.
