I would like to buy a set of binoculars, and don't have much money at all, and I am wondering if cheap binoculars would be good enough for a first time user? What is a lowest level of magnification that works?

If you type binoculars into the search bar above, there are already several threads on this topic, which might be of use. I only have a cheap set, and have not used them for birds, so can't offer much advice.

Bushnell FOV 293FT are a very good budget binocular. Recently bought a pair, about $80.00 online.
