Yes, she sits on a nest, hidden well inside some ferns. She came out to stretch her wings this morning. I got very close to her, she sat well camouflaged inside the fern, I don't think she even saw me.
as you can tell, it was difficult to make a choice , took about 80 pics, so these are only the tip of the iceberg.
You can easily overlook these common honeyeaters... but when you get that close to them, it's something different; a totally different bird!
Brandon (aka ihewman)
Thats exciting!
Is she is sitting on eggs?
I don't know what area you live in Brandon? Around my garden (Gembrook Vic) they are not very common. I've lived here for 13 years, but only had the one pair. He stays all year round and calls a female in the breeding season. Last year they had two young, but one had a bad accident, it flew into my window. So, I hope they make it this time

She is Elsie, you can even see the patch on her chest in the first photo, it looks like that because when they sit on eggs,. that's where they have them , close to their chest. Keeps them at their body temperature, the other feathers in a way hugging the eggs.
I can't see the nest, same spot as last year, well hidden. No idea how long she has been sitting for? But I only heard her last week. I will keep an eye out.
