I thought I’d share this with you.
Last week I decided to do something other than take photos of birds, so I went to the Zoo. In front of the Lemurs I noticed this little boy , his mother tried to take the camera off him. That caused him so much distress, he was screaming and trying to hold onto the camera. When I talked to his mother , she told me that the 4 year old was so obsessed with taking photos, that she had to take it off him from time to time, to give his tiny brain a rest. But the little boy wasn’t going to let go.
To distract him , I asked him to show me his photos. I was not prepared for the result. Brilliant photographs. His tiny fingers manipulated the camera like a pro, up and down, zooming in and out….But then he made one remark: Oh, this one is a bit blurry, my mother took it.
I have seen a few adults that obsessed, but never a 4 year old boy. Definitely a future photographer. His mother also told me, he takes the camera to bed every night too.
(Oh , yes it was his camera, and the mother was not a photographer)
A child prodigy even from behind you can see how intense he is ,some kids amaze me with their keen eye for detail and and artistc flair for composition and lets face it some of them are just plane scary with thier computer skills.
A few years back I had been taking photos at my granddaughters birthday party and was going through them their computer my granddaughter was watching and I turned to her and said would you like me to put some of them on a disk for you ,she just smilled and said no thanks gramps I'll load some of them on my flash stick latter and mum will help "me" put them on facebook ----- she was five !
She is also a keen photographer now eight she has her own Canon G10 and some of her shots are just stunning both of her grandads are pro photographers and she watches evreything we do but she has not asked either of us for advice, we both would love to teach her some of the tricks of the trade but being a real little woman she would probably ignore any advice we gave her anyway !
