yea, congratulations on another tick on your list; I see Pink-eared Duck and Australasian Shoveler in the pics as well; so what number are you up to now?
I know Peter , the excitment was overhelming. I had been hunting this duck for over a year and half and it was well worth it too , what a absoultely gorgeous duck they are. I had been keeping current checks on the ''bird sightings'' on the internet and they had a sighting of 40 at Joondalup ( yes OMG 40 - I couldn't believe it ) so i dropped everything i had planned that day - didnt worry about a shower and jumped straight in the car to drive over a hour away hoping they were still there. I had been there about a month ago when I got my first White-necked Heron, and i noticed how much more water was in the lake and not so many birds on it this time. But atlas I was eager to see these 40 Freckled friends. After about 15-20mins panning the lake through my camera ...BINGO i saw one ( OMG i didn't know whether to scream or cry with excitment ) . I didn't need 40 , one was enough for me but as the day went on there was a Whistling Kite that was flying over the lake rather low as if he was trying to hunt a duck off the water so all the birds that were far out in the middle of the lake came towards my way where I was on the bank and the majority of them were in fact more Freckled Ducks ! The only minor let down of the day was I was shooting straight into the sun and the bushes divided me from a large group of them having fun splashing and bathing in the water. I could only access them from one spot but it was good enough for me just to be there seeing them in front of me !!!!!! My count is now roughly 146 , now I have to decide what will be the next bird to hunt ! I think I might try the Crested -shrike tit, that one seems to be a challenge so it might take me a while to be able to mark that one too off my list.
If you are after Shrike-tits, if you have the chance, take a visit up here at Cordalba SF (near Childers)... You can get them from the main road, as well as Fuscus Honeyeater...
Well done! Congrats! I am yet to see a Freckled Duck. There are a few within about 30 minutes of where I live, but I am too busy with my local raptors and monitoring of a pair of breeding Powerful Owls.

Shoop is over in WA and therefore will most likely be looking for a closer location; my father however is in Bundaberg so I will ask for some good spots when I am next visiting
