driving into town, I noticed two White-faced Herons next to the road, so I turned around. They were a fair way away on the other side of a lake. Here is the best I could do, enjoy.

There were only two birds. No1 and No3 are the same , and the one in the middle is a different bird.
I had noticed the bird walking funny too. Can you tell if the bird is a female? If it was beeding time (?) , could it be that the bird might be egg bound? I once had a Tawny Frogmouth that had a problem like that, and the abdomen was hard and swollen, because an egg was stuck. Looked very similar to this.

Not sure if the same with WFH but my pet cockatiel would have a noticable bulge for a few days before laying an egg, so if it's not egg bound maybe ready to drop? (I hope that's the case for this bird)
A bit early for a white-faced heron to be thinking about laying eggs in southern Australia I would have thought.
Exactly what I was thinking, but that then could mean , something else is not right? The bird certainly looks different.
