in my Callistemon

Yesterday I had the pleasure of sitting outside my shed for 2 hours, while I was waiting for a truck. I had all that time to observe the comings and goings at the only Callistemon growing in that spot. I will plant more of them in that particular area.

There is one resident Eastern Spinebill that has been there for 2 years, there also were some babies last year. That family is the owner occupier of the shrub. Needless to say, when about 5 adult Brown-headed Honeyeaters and their juvenile offspring turned up, trouble was on the cards.

Hard to get good photos of any of them, the shrub is very dense and lots of sun and shade.

I posted that many photos because some show the difference in size between the adult Brown-headed Honeyeater and the juvenile.(eg photo 3) In others you can see the bluish eye-skin.

In photo 4 , the young one is being attacked by the resident Easten Spinebill.

Have a look at the Spinebill's beak in this photo. I'd be scared of that if I was a young Honeyeatercrying

Wonderful images again. Is that pollen on the head of the spinebill in photo #1?

Photo #2 is a juvenile brown honeyeater? They look quite different from the adults.
