what a beaut suprise - just weeding in the garden and there before me a Grey Butcherbird. She had some yellow food in her beak - flew uo to a branch in our sheoak and stuck the food in a fork.
Stunned - i just watched and she moved away from the food to a lower branch and it was not long until a blackbird came tweeting bye well the butcherbird seemed to crouch down and like a flash darted after the blackbird up and over a fence.
around us now we have many more species of bird - first we thought it was the drought but still they come and it has been very wet.
we have a motorhome and last week stopped at Rosebud West . whilst a beautiful place it did not appear to have the bird live we enjoy here.
our blackbird is still ok - not eaten - she is just having a bath outside my window.
have a wonderful day
regards
peter
How lovely Peter.
I am a sucker for a butcherbird. They have the most amazing call.
