Would be nice to find a new kind of moth But I think Brandon is on the right track, it looks a lot like a Hawk Moth of some kind. But it was very large,as long as my thumb (9 cm) I have never seen one around my garden. Couldn't find any pupal cases either
Dunno what it's called, but it's certainly very pretty.
I couldn't find any moths in the Museum Victoria app.
It could be a hawk moth of some kind, though I'm no expert.
