I am going to be looking for a shot of a superb fairy-wren (probably a male) for a little swap card series that BirdLife are getting made - and we are going to have a sfw for Birds in backyards
Looks like a male superb fairy-wren going into eclipse (non breeding) plumage, Margaret. Older male superb fairy-wrens (> about 4 years) retain their breeding plumage in non-breeding season, I believe.

Hi Holly, I only saw this post now, my computer doesn't work, and I just had a look on someone elses, to find out what's happening. Mightn't have a computer for some days. I would love to give you one of my male wrens photos. Can't at the moment , no computer, all my photos are on it.(hope not to loose them?)But if you can find one of mine on the forum,go for it, you can take them!!! Hope to be back here soon.
Thanks so much M-L. Sorry to hear about your computer troubles, hope you get all your photos back. I had to replace my laptop a few weeks ago after it decided to develop a lovely green stripe down the screen and became temperamental, sometimes deciding that it didn't want to load windows...
I will have a look through the forum, but I do need a reasonably high res image.
Might make superb fairy-wrens our bird of the week this week :)
Awesome photo. Could I ask what camera and lense?? I have tried to get close ups but nowhere near as good as yours!!
Gorgeous M-L! You know how much I love them

now i don't want to be accused of hijacking or anything...LOL but i want to know if this is a variegated fairy wren or one changing it's plumage?

She is a very beautiful girl M-L, and captured to perfection ( sounds like a recipe).

Holly you could check out photos that members have here with a bird of the week, if you haven't considered this already.

You can always take out your hard drive & copy your photos from there when you're set up to go again, Araminta.
when submitting a BotW (Bird of the Week) pic this week the poster could state if they have a hi-res file
then you will know which posters to contact
