Never seen a white one before. It was at Lysterfield Lake Park which is the last place I'd expect to see something like this. I'm wondering if it escaped the hobby farm that's on Belgrave-Hallam Road right opposite the entrance to the park.

Yes, Peacock.
So, is it a special type? I couldn't find it in the birdfinders search. Lots of pictures online for a white peacock. Someone at Facebook said it was a princess but not sure if they're a bird person or not. I found this info and it indicates that it's not an albino but definitely a white peacock. http://www.ehow.com/about_6636085_white-peacock-bird-information.html

Thanks Peter. I've seen some lovely pics online - pity it wasn't a male with its tail on display.

They are amazing with their tails open in display. So regal, so beautiful.

This one was a female so didn't have a beautiful tail . Looked rather scraggly really. But I did look them up online and saw fantastic pics of them. I'd never seen a white one before. I love coming across 'new' birds, i.e. ones I've not seen before.
