The veranda haul

Remebered I had a coupel photos on my "veranda cam" (a Nikon D300 that sits on an old tripod on the veranda on our property) and copied them off

and the lesser loved :)

and a little segue, to show mum and baby :)

Lovely photos! Do you take the photos yourself, or do you set the camera to a specific spot and then let it take photos itself? ( I hope that wasn't confusingcheeky)

I love that shot of the mum and babyheart

Great verandah cam shots - Love your friar bird, thats a cracker!

But I think the little baby staying close to mum steals the show

Thanks for the kind words Elsie.  To answer your questions; the fist one, yes, the second one no .

The camera sits on the veranda most days on a tripod with lens on (it's an older Nikon D300 with 50-500 Sigma lens).  We have breakfast together outside (main "together" meal of the day for us) and when the opportunity presents I jump behind the camera and take a photo.  Very occasionally I will be walking along the veranda to attend to some chore or other and see something interesting and similarly take a photo.  You can see they're taken from a variety of angles by looking at the background; different flowers etc  We sit outside as we're swarmed by honeyeaters (a wide variety) in the flowering natives, (along with a wide variety of bees !) which is why you don't see many shots of other birds from me.   I am not so much interested in birds per se but take a more holoistic view of sustainability, nature and minimising our impact on nature

We breakfast on the verandah of our little cottage on the RHS of his photo, the table is just behind the lattice.  That's my parter sitting on the steps :)

Thats a great idea! Having a camera that is readily available for use. I am always strugging with being outside seeing a bird, racing inside to grab the camera, coming back and finding that the bird has flownsad

Thanks for your reply to my questions. You have a lovely house by the waysmiley It must be great to have the dam so close, do you see many waterbirds?

You can view the cornucopia of wildlife by going here if you're interested.  We get a variety of waterbirds, as well as Kingfishers going after the little fish in the Dam
